Questions about the sample pack
Everything people ask before sending an address to a company they have not bought from yet.
Is the sample pack actually free?
Yes, including the postage, and there is no card involved anywhere. We send them because the fastest way to lose an order is somebody guessing at board thickness from a photograph and being disappointed.
Will the samples have my logo on them?
No. These are our own printed boxes, so you can judge the board, the print and the finishes. A printed sample of your own artwork means a real press setup, which is a paid one off. What you get before that is a digital proof, and it is free.
How long does the pack take to arrive?
We post within a working day of your request and most US addresses see them within a week. If you are up against a deadline, say so in the form and we will tell you honestly whether it will make it.
Can I ask for a specific board or finish?
Please do. There is a notes field on the form, and if you say you are packing a candle or a soap bar we will put the formats that suit it in the box rather than a generic selection.
What happens after the samples arrive?
Nothing, unless you want it to. There is no sequence of follow up emails and no sales call. If you like what turned up, ask for a quote. If you do not, tell us why and it genuinely helps us.
Do you send samples outside the US?
Not at the moment. Our partners and our postage are set up for the lower 48. If you are elsewhere, email us and we will tell you straight whether we can help yet.
What is actually in the pack?
The formats you tick on the form, which defaults to three because three covers most first orders. They arrive flat, so it is a large envelope rather than a parcel, and there is a card in there saying what each board is and what it usually gets used for.
Is this the same board my order would be printed on?
Yes. Same board grades, same coatings, same print process. What a sample cannot tell you is whether your product fits, and that is what the free dieline tool is for: put in your dimensions, print the flat layout at full size and fold it up around the real thing.
Can I ask for more than one pack?
One per business as a rule, which is how we keep sending them free. If a co founder in another city needs to hold one too, say so in the notes and a second one goes out.
What should I look at when it arrives?
Three things. Press a thumbnail into the board and see how far it dents, because that is most of the difference between a box that arrives square and one that does not. Look at the print in daylight rather than under a warm bulb, which flatters everything. And fold a flat sample back up, because how easily it assembles is what your packing table lives with every day.
