Why we exist

Our mission

To make a properly designed, properly printed box something a small brand can actually buy. Not in five thousands, not after a sales call, and not with the design billed back to you at the end.

Where this goes

Our vision

A market where the size of your order does not decide the quality of your packaging. The gap between what a big brand can order and what a growing one can is mostly a minimum quantity and a design fee, and neither is a law of physics.

How it works here

What we actually do

We are the part between your logo and a pallet of boxes: the design, the sourcing, the proof, and the quality check when it comes off the press.

A designer turns your artwork into a print ready file on the correct dieline, and you see a digital proof before anything is made. Nothing goes to press until you say so. If you have never sent artwork to a printer before, the guide to dielines explains what we need and why.

Production runs through US manufacturing partners we have checked and keep using, so your boxes are printed and delivered domestically with no customs paperwork in between. We keep your artwork and your dieline on file, which is why a reorder is a one line email rather than starting again.

Sizing is an easy thing to get wrong on a first order, so we check it before anything is quoted. Dimensions are always internal and always in the same order, which the measuring guide walks through with a diagram.

If something turns up wrong, tell us and we will put it right. Our returns and refunds page says exactly where that line sits, including the parts that are not in our favour. That is the whole job.

We do not own a printing press

We design your packaging and produce it through vetted US manufacturing partners. That is how almost every small run custom box gets made, and we would rather write it down than let you assume there is a factory behind this page.

We do not have client logos to show you

We are a newer name. There is no wall of brands, no Trustpilot score and no certification badge on this site, because we have not earned any of them yet. Everything you can check is free instead: an estimator, a dieline tool and a sample pack.

We do not sell you the biggest box

A mailer looks better in a photo than a folding carton does, and it also costs more to ship. Tell us what you actually put in it and we will tell you which one to buy.

Including the ones with an answer that is not flattering. A supplier you have never heard of should be easy to check.

Ask us anything

Do you own a factory?

No, and we say so on purpose. We design the box, handle the artwork and manage the run, and vetted US manufacturers print it. That is why we can start at a hundred boxes: we are not trying to fill a press we have to pay for either way.

So why not go straight to the printer?

You can, and on a very large repeat run you probably should. Where we earn our margin is everything around the print: picking the right format, getting the size right first time, building print ready artwork, and being the person who answers when something goes wrong. On a first order that is worth more than the few percent you would save.

How long have you been doing this?

BoxCrisp is new. We would rather say that than invent a decade of history and a wall of logos. What we will not do is guess at an answer or promise a date we cannot hold, and everything on this site that looks like a claim has a real number behind it.

Where are the boxes made?

In the United States, by partners we have checked. That keeps freight sane, keeps lead times honest and means a problem gets fixed in days rather than after a container crossing.

Who will I actually be dealing with?

A person, and the same one throughout your order. There is no ticket queue and no account manager handover. That is one of the genuine advantages of being small, and it stops being true only when we hire, at which point we will say so.

If the design is free, how do you make money?

On the boxes. We buy the run from a manufacturing partner and sell it on with a margin, and the design work comes out of that margin rather than arriving as a line at the end. It is a thin margin, which is exactly why we tell people that a very large repeat run will be cheaper direct from a printer. On a first order the design and the sizing are worth more than the few percent.

Why is the minimum a hundred boxes and not ten?

Because a print run has a setup cost that does not care how many boxes come off the press. At ten, setup is most of what you pay and a box that should be two dollars is eight, which is a bad first order and a worse first impression of us. A hundred is roughly where the number starts to look sensible. Below that, a plain stock box with a well printed sticker genuinely is the better buy, and we will say so rather than take the order.

Do you hold FSC or any sustainability certification?

No, and we will not put a logo on this site suggesting otherwise. Plain kraft and uncoated corrugated go into ordinary US kerbside recycling, which covers most of what we sell, while a gloss or soft touch laminate or a foil stamp can stop a box being recyclable. If certified stock is a requirement from your retailer, ask at the quote stage and you will get a straight yes or no rather than a maybe.

How many people are behind BoxCrisp?

Few enough that the same person handles your first email and your third reorder, and we are not going to dress that up as a department. It is why replies are quick and also why nobody answers on a Sunday. When it changes, this answer changes with it rather than quietly staying up.

Who owns the artwork you make for me?

You do. The print ready file and the dieline are yours, and if you ask for them we send them, including when you have decided to take the job elsewhere. We keep a copy so a reorder is one message instead of a rebuild, and your packaging does not appear on our work page unless you have said yes.

What happens if a run comes out wrong?

If the boxes do not match the proof you approved, that is ours and we reprint them. If they match the proof and the typo was in the proof, that is a reprint you pay for, which is the honest version and the reason we ask you to read a proof slowly rather than approve it from a phone. Colour on press carries a tolerance against a screen. The returns and refunds page writes all of this out, including the parts that do not favour us.

Do I have to pay for everything up front?

No. A deposit starts production and the balance is due before your boxes ship, and the split is written on the quote before you agree to anything. Custom work is paid this way nearly everywhere, because a box with your logo printed on it cannot be sold to anyone else if the order falls through.

Can I see boxes you have actually made?

The work page has photographs of real runs, and the free sample pack puts printed board in your hands, which tells you more than any photograph will. What you will not find here is a wall of client logos. We have not earned one yet, and borrowing somebody else’s brand for credibility is a habit that is hard to stop once you start.

What if my product does not fit any of your formats?

Then we draw one. The formats in the shop cover most orders; they are not the limit of what can be made. Windows, sleeves, inserts, dividers and unusual die cuts are ordinary work here. The useful first step is a photo of the product next to a ruler, which answers more questions than a paragraph describing it.

Is the price you quote the price I pay?

Yes, unless you change the specification. The quote lists the box, the board, the print, the finish, the quantity and the freight as separate lines, and none of them move on their own. The one number that shifts is the count in the carton: printing works to an over or under run allowance of up to 10 percent, and you are billed for what actually arrives.

Why does this site keep telling me what you cannot do?

Because the alternative is you finding out at proof stage. Every packaging site claims quality, service and fast turnaround, so those words carry no information any more. What a supplier refuses to do is checkable in a way a promise is not. If it costs us an order from somebody who wanted a factory tour, that is a better outcome than the same person discovering halfway through that there is no factory.
