What it shows

Shape, finish and placement

Your artwork on a model of the box at your real proportions.

What it can’t

Exact colour

A screen makes colour with light, a press makes it with ink.

What comes next

A real proof

Print ready artwork from a designer, free, before anything prints.

How to use it

Four minutes, and one mistake avoided

A box in the wrong size is an expensive way to find out you measured wrong. This is the cheapest way to catch that.

Step one

Measure the product, not the box

Length, width and height of what goes inside, then a quarter inch each way for packing. Box dimensions are always internal in this trade, so a 8 × 6 × 3 box holds an 8 × 6 × 3 space.

Step two

Put your real logo on it

Not a placeholder. Half the time a logo that looks right on a website turns out to be far too small on a box face, and it takes about ten seconds to find that out here rather than after 500 of them arrive.

Step three

Fold one in paper

Take the same numbers to the dieline generator, print it at 100 percent and fold it. Putting the actual product into an actual paper box is the only test that never lies.

The honest bit

What a 3D preview isn’t

Every packaging site with a design studio implies the picture is the product. It isn’t, and here’s exactly where the gap is.

What it gets right

  • Proportions. A 12 × 9 × 6 box really is that shape next to a 6 × 6 × 2.
  • Placement and scale of your logo on every face, inside the lid included.
  • Roughly what kraft does to a design compared to white board.
  • How a finish behaves in the light: gloss shines, soft touch doesn’t, foil only on the logo.
  • Whether the whole thing reads at a glance, which is the actual test.

What it doesn’t

  • Colour accuracy. Screens emit light, boxes reflect it.
  • How a finish feels. Soft touch is a texture, and a screen has none.
  • Board texture, flute lines and how thick the walls actually feel.
  • Embossing, spot gloss and custom die cuts, which we print and this doesn’t draw. A free sample pack answers all four properly.

Straight answers

Questions about the designer

What people ask after their first go with it, including the two answers that aren’t in our favour.

Is this a real proof?

No, and nothing that runs in a browser is. It’s a preview: it shows your artwork on a model of the box at your measurements so you can check the shape, the scale and where the logo sits. The real proof is a print ready file we send you before anything goes on press, and you sign that off.

Where does my artwork go when I upload it?

It stays on your device. Your browser reads the file and paints it onto the model, and nothing is sent to us. If you choose to save the design to your account, the artwork is uploaded with it and stored privately: only you can open it, and our team only looks at it when you send that design with a quote request. Delete the design and its files go with it.

Will the colour I pick be the colour I get?

Close, not exact, and this is the honest limit of any screen preview. Your monitor makes colour with light and a press makes it with ink on board, and kraft shifts everything further because you’re printing onto brown rather than white. Give us a Pantone reference and we’ll hold to it as tightly as the process allows. A free sample pack is the only way to really see it.

What size should I make it?

Measure your product, then add about a quarter inch each way for packing, more if it needs padding. Measure the inside of a box, never the outside. If you’re unsure, put the numbers in here, then download the flat dieline, print it at 100 percent and fold it in paper with your product in it. That costs nothing and catches the mistake that ruins most first orders.

Can I design something this tool doesn’t show?

Yes. It draws every format we sell, windows and sleeves included, but not every variation of them. Dividers, inserts with wells cut to your product, embossing, spot gloss and custom die cuts are all normal work for us and none of them are drawn here. Describe what you want on the quote and a designer will draw it.

Do I need finished artwork to order?

No. Send your logo in whatever file you have and we build print ready artwork around it, free, on every order including reorders. A vector file (AI, EPS or PDF) gives the best result. If all you have is a PNG off your website, send it and we’ll tell you honestly whether it prints cleanly at that size.

Can I print on more than one face?

Yes, here and on the real box. Pick a side, add a picture or some text, then move to the next one, or put the same logo on every side in one go. Most boxes with a lid can be printed inside it too, which is where a good part of the unboxing photograph actually happens, and the price updates to printing outside and in.

Why does kraft look so different from white here?

Because it genuinely is different. Ink on brown board isn’t ink on white board: pale colours go muddy, and white is its own separate print rather than the absence of ink. The preview shows the shift roughly, not exactly. If your design leans on it, get a sample before you commit to a run.

Can I save a design and come back to it?

Yes, with a free account. What you’re working on is kept on this device as you go, so a refresh never loses it. Saving it to your account means you can open it again from any device, rename it, copy it and send it with a quote request. You only need to sign in to save: designing, downloading a picture and adding a box to your cart all work without one.

Does the preview show real board thickness?

Roughly. Every panel is drawn with a cut edge at about the right thickness, so a corrugated mailer looks chunkier than a folding carton, and the finishes catch the light differently as you turn the box. What it can’t show is the texture up close, the flute lines, or how stiff the board feels in your hand. The free sample pack covers that better than any screen would.

Drew something you like?

Add it to your cart with your measurements on it, or send it straight to us from the last step. We come back with a real price and a free design mockup, usually the same working day.
